Digital Breast Tomosynthesis

Breast tomosynthesis, which is a technological development that enables examining breast in milimetrical cross-sections, just like in lung tomography, operates with an imaging time of about 20 seconds. This wide scanning angle of this system with +/-25 degree scanning angle and 50 degree cross-section imaging characteristic, allows to increase the depth resolution and obtain images with fewer artefacts and in more detail. With 25 different projections, rapid amorphSe dedector, 24x30 cm, 85 micromilimetrical pixel size, frame rate 2 image/second, CC, MLO and scanning in other projections, high DQE properties in low dose it reduces artefacts by adding high resolution, angle and depthness resolutions to cross-section images.

As breast can be studied in detail in milimetrical cross-sections, 3D image of microcalcifications and mass lesions is obtained and it allows to have a higher sensitivity diagnosis. As it can obtain cross-section image, breast will be squeezed very lightly and the patients will suffer less pain. Besides patients are subject to a radiation level as compared to the single mamography (1-1,5 times) during one entire breast tomosynthesis.
